Lady Hippos knock off Lady Wildcats

HUTTO — The Hutto High School girls varsity soccer team picked up its second straight 6A-District 12 win Tuesday, Feb. 6 as the Lady Hippos were victorious 3-1 at home over Temple High School.

The Lady Hippos got off to a fast start in the first half with two goals on the Lady Wildcats to take a 2-0 lead and tacked on one secondhalf score.

Hutto sophomore Ashley Guild led the way for the Lady Hippos as she recorded a hat trick with three goals scored in the clutch win against Temple. Lady Hippos junior Kaylee Hernandez, freshman Mia Nelson and fellow freshman Mara Johnson each assisted on goals scored by Guild.

Hutto (5-5-1 overall, 2-1 district record) under Head Coach Courtney Mallon are scheduled Feb. 9 for a district road match at Copperas Cove High School and will return home Tuesday, Feb.

13 at 7:15 p.m. to host Bryan High School.
