Weekend trips are therapeutic at a small newspaper when finding time for a whole week’s vacation is like looking for a needle in a haystack.

First-grade class reunites after 62 years

Ridership may not be as strong in Taylor, but city leaders want to expand local transportation services in anticipation of expected growth. The Ninth Annual Car Show Oct.29
The Ninth Annual Taylor Main Street Car Show, the biggest show in Central Texas, will take place from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Sat. Oct 29. This family-friendly event will feature cars, live music, shopping, food trailers and cold Texas Beer. Admission to the event, which brings in more than 10,000 attendees annually, is free. In addition, there are two dozen locally owned small businesses in downtown Taylor. Open containers are allowed in downtown, so you can sip, shop, and stroll. Arts board sets public input sessions
The Taylor Public Arts Advisory Board will hold two public listening sessions to gather input as part of its strategic planning efforts. The sessions will be held 6-8 p.m.

National Night Out
At 6 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 4, neighborhoods throughout Taylor will celebrate National Night Out in an effort to lower crime rates locally. Residents are asked to turn on their front porch light and spend the evening with neighbors, police, elected officials, firefighters and many others. Neighborhoods throughout the city will host special events such as block parties and cookouts. Public safety servants from Taylor will visit the different events.
