The Central Texas Beginning Beekeepers School will feature 37 instructors and 78 sessions with 52 unique topics to choose from. The school will be held on March 26 in Brenham.

POPS OF COLOR
Business is blooming again at Taylor Garden Center. A perennial favorite of local gardeners since 2018, the nursery reopens their doors on Friday, Feb. 25. The reopening will showcase a larger variety of flowers, fruit trees, vegetables and herbs plus the addition of a houseplant section and potted succulents.

Local elections are set for May 7, and we now know who will vie for seats on the city council and the school board. Currently, there is one contested race on the city council and one on the Taylor ISD board of trustees.

BLACK HISTORY MONTH
Harriet Tubman was born in 1822 and was an American abolitionist and humanitarian. She is known for her work as a scout and spy for the United States Army during the Civil War. She escaped slavery and made several missions using the Underground Railroad to rescue enslaved people along with family and friends.

Taylor ISD names January students of the month
Taylor High School has named Skyler Pyles as their January student of the month. She always comes to class with a positive attitude and always gets right to work. She has pushed herself in ceramics class to try new pieces and doesn't build what is just comfortable and easy. She also puts a great deal of effort into her AP World History class, and she is always kind and polite.

Locals among SHSU deans list
Sam Houston State University has announced their latest dean’s list. The students listed on the Dean’s List of Academic Honors at SHSU in Huntsville are undergraduates who have achieved a grade point average of at least 3.5 out of a perfect 4.0 in all work attempted while enrolled in not less than 12 semester hours.
