Pokorny selected to all-star team

Thrall Tigerettes standout pitcher Miley Pokorny was selected to the Greater Austin Area All-Star North Team after another dominant season in the circle.

The game will take place on Wednesday, June 3 at Dripping Springs High School at 7 p.m.

Pokorny finished the year with a 1.88 ERA while recording multiple shutouts and helping lead the Tigerettes to an 11-1 district record and a district championship. Her ability to control games from the circle played a major role in Thrall’s success throughout the season.

The senior also stepped up during the postseason, picking up several key wins as the Tigerettes advanced all the way to the regional finals before falling to Kirbyville in a threegame series.

During her career at Thrall, Pokorny surpassed 1,000 strikeouts, cementing her place as one of the most accomplished players in program history. Her consistency, leadership and competitiveness helped make the Tigerettes a contender every season she was on the field.

Thrall head coach Matt Pokorny praised Miley’s toughness and composure throughout her career.

“She had a lot of grit and a lot of grind,” Matt Pokorny said. “She never gets out of her realm, and she keeps us in every game. Even if we only score two or three runs, we have a chance every game.”

Pokorny’s selection to the all-star team adds another honor to an already impressive career and caps off a memorable senior season for the Tigerettes star pitcher.
