LOCAL FFA MEMBER JOINS PROGRAM
Thrall High School Future Farmers of America secretary Bobby Clark has been selected to be a part of the 2022 Junior Fed Beef Career & Leadership Program this summer in Canyon. He is one of only 20 applicants that were chosen to be a part of the three-day program, which offers participants a chance to receive hands-on instruction about feedyard operations, as well as career opportunities in the fed beef industry. School staff eligible for stipend
Hours of work outside of the classroom will be rewarded at Taylor ISD Taylor Independent School District will give $400 stipends for employees that finished reading academies within the 2021-22 school year. Superintendent Devin Padavil informed the board of trustees of the revision to the district’s retention stipend.

Virus cases uptick
Williamson County’s COVID-19 cases had the biggest jump last week since January, although current numbers still pale from the year’s start. Confirmed cases, which include past and current episodes reported to the Williamson County and Cities Health District (WCCHD), increased by 520 in the county May 10-16.

NATIONAL POLICE WEEK RECOGNIZED
On April 28, the Taylor City Council recognized National Police Week, May 11-17, and Peace Officers Memorial Day, May 15, with a proclamation to honor fallen officers and their families. In 2021, there were 609 officers killed in the line of duty. In the history of the Taylor Police Department, there have been two officers killed in the line of duty. Kitchen fire near school extinguished
HUTTO — A kitchen fire Wednesday morning was put out before causing too much damage. On May 11, a mobile home near Ray Elementary School in Hutto had what was described as a small fire in in its kitchen.
