Edna M. Richter Hurta, age 95, went to live with her heavenly Father Sept. 18, 2022, in Temple. She was born July 20, 1927, in Taylor, to Fritz and Amy Bunge Richter. She attended a country school in Waterloo and graduated from Taylor High School in 1945. Shortly after that, she met her first love, Edward Hurta, in Taylor. They were married March 31, 1946. A few months later they moved to Temple where Edward’s work took them. They lived in Temple until their deaths. 09/24/2022 10:16 AM

On Sept. 12, 2022, at about 10:45 p.m., a flurry of angels led by our Lord filled the room of Margaret Dell Carmack Moore to the brim. They took our precious mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt and friend with them as they departed for Heaven where she will reside forever with our precious Lord. She passed away peacefully in her sleep for which we are thankful. She was 99 years old, adventuresome, loved to travel and lived life to the fullest. National Night Out
At 6 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 4, neighborhoods throughout Taylor will celebrate National Night Out in an effort to lower crime rates locally. Residents are asked to turn on their front porch light and spend the evening with neighbors, police, elected officials, firefighters and many others. Neighborhoods throughout the city will host special events such as block parties and cookouts. Public safety servants from Taylor will visit the different events. The Ninth Annual Taylor Main Street Car Show, the biggest show in Central Texas, will take place from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Sat. Oct 29. This family-friendly event will feature cars, live music, shopping, food trailers and cold Texas Beer. Admission to the event, which brings in more than 10,000 attendees annually, is free. In addition, there are two dozen locally owned small businesses in downtown Taylor. Open containers are allowed in downtown, so you can sip, shop, and stroll. To register a car in advance, the fee is $15 or $25 the day of the event. Car show participants should arrive by 9 AM, and the earliest cars get the best parking spots. National Night Out returns in October
On Tuesday, Oct. 4, neighborhoods throughout Taylor are invited to join forces with thousands of communities nationwide for the National Night Out crime and drug prevention event. National Night Out is sponsored locally by the city of Taylor and the Taylor Police Department. After two years of not hosting NNO due to COVID-19 concerns, block party registration has been light so far, and interested residents are encouraged to get involved and register their party soon. 09/21/2022 08:37 AM
