The Taylor and Thrall High School tennis programs will each send athletes to compete in the UIL Class 3A and 4A state championships, which begin Thursday, May 15, at the Annemarie Tennis Center in San Antonio.
The ATC is located inside the Hardin Athletic Complex, located at the corner of Interstate Loop 410 and Culebra Road.
Taylor
Rylee Michna will look to three-peat at the state tournament after capturing her third consecutive regional title on May 8. Michna, who won the Class 4A girls singles state championship last year, will return to defend her crown.
Michna will get a bye in the first round and face either Samantha Melear from Canyon High School or Tristen Dowless from Tuloso-Midway in the quarterfinals.
Thrall
Thrall’s Payton Gilmore and Harleigh Barrett will compete in the Class 3A mixed doubles state championship on Thursday, May 15, at 10 a.m., after advancing through the regional rounds. They will face Madison Tyndell and Jayden McConnell of Edgewood in the opening match.
