SAN ANTONIO — Taylor High School junior Rylee Michna continued her run of dominance on the tennis court, winning her third consecutive UIL state championship on Friday, May 15, in San Antonio.
Michna delivered a commanding performance throughout the state tournament, not dropping a single set in three matches. She opened the quarterfinals with a flawless win over Samantha Melear of Canyon High School, 6-0, 6-0.
In the semifinals, Michna faced Breanna Taylor of Lindale High School and advanced with another strong showing, winning 6-0, 6-2 to reach the title match.
Competing in the finals against Armanni Karera of Stafford High School, Michna once again controlled the match from start to finish. She claimed the state title with a decisive 6-0, 6-1 victory.
The win marks Michna’s third straight gold medal at the state tournament as she continues to build on one of the most decorated careers in Taylor High School tennis history.
