Gunfire erupts at Hutto party; one hit, one arrest Callers report shots fired, people fleeing

HUTTO – A weekend party marred by gunfire as guests scrambled to get away left one juvenile injured with a gunshot wound and another teen behind bars, officials said.
An 18-year-old man charged with unlawfully carrying g y a weapon was booked into the Williamson County Jail in Georgetown following the early Sunday episode, according to a city news release.
His identity and bond were not made available at press time.
A juvenile who suffered a non-life-threatening gunshot wound to the arm was rushed by Williamson County Emergency Medical Services to a local hospital for treatment, investigators said.
According to the release, the incident began shortly after 12:20 a.m. when officers were dispatched to a noise complaint involving a large party in the 200 block of Phillips Street.
While officers were headed toward the noise disturbance, Williamson County EMS updated the call to “shots fired.”
Onlookers who dialed 911 reported that people were shooting, running and driving away from the area, according to the release.
At least one vehicle and one residence were reported to have been struck by a bullet during the incident, but no other injuries were reported.
Deputies from the Williamson County Sheriff’s Office also responded to the scene.
No motive was given for the incident and police did not say what sparked the disturbance.
