THRALL — The Thrall Tigerettes varsity softball team made a strong impression in District 19-3A, earning 10 total selections on the all-district list. Thrall had four players named to the first team, four to the second team and two earned honorable mention honors.
Mikayla Velasquez, Miley Pokorny, Selena Quintanilla and Riley Luton were all selected to the first team. Velasquez posted a .287 batting average with 21 RBIs and five home runs. Pokorny served as the team’s ace, finishing with a 1.99 ERA over 30 appearances.
Quintanilla batted .327 with 13 RBIs, while Luton led the team with a .388 batting average, 25 RBIs and five home runs.
The second team included Bri Jarosek, Piper Hernandez, Kenzie Engelke and Adelynn Bishop. Jarosek drove in 10 runs, Hernandez hit .277 with 19 RBIs, Engelke batted .262 with 20 RBIs, and Bishop contributed six RBIs with a .200 batting average.
Brooklyn Reyes and Mireya Torres were named honorable mentions. Reyes tallied 11 hits on the season, while Torres backed up Pokorny in the circle, recording a 7.50 ERA in seven appearances.
Thrall finished the season with a 19-13 overall record and went 7-5 in district play, earning a postseason berth. The Tigerettes defeated Elkhart in the bi-district round before falling to Blooming Grove in a best-of-three series in the area round.
