THRALL — Thrall senior utility player Maverick McAllister was named to the Texas High School Coaches Association 3A Baseball Super Elite Team on Thursday, June 26.
McAllister played a key role in leading the Tigers to their first state championship game appearance in 27 years. One of his standout performances came against Elkhart, where he threw five innings, allowing two runs and striking out four.
He also earned wins on the mound against West High School — tossing a complete game while giving up three runs and recording five strikeouts — and against Anderson-Shiro, where he threw a complete-game shutout.
McAllister capped off a dominant postseason with another complete-game effort in a win over Orange Grove, surrendering just one run. He will play middle infield at West Texas A&M in Canyon during the next four years.
Although his state finals outing ended early after allowing eight runs in three innings in a 14-2 loss to Wall, McAllister’s impact throughout the season was undeniable. In addition to his pitching success, he contributed at the plate with several clutch hits and RBIs.
