Taylor man headed to prison for drug trafficking

GEORGETOWN — An anonymous tip ended with a 43-year-old Taylor man headed to prison after a jury convicted him on a cocaine- trafficking charge, prosecutors said. Barry Deshawn White, 47, received a 43-year prison sentence in 277th state District Judge Stacey Matthews’ courtroom after a jury found him guilty of possession of cocaine with intent to deliver, court records show.

“This verdict and sentence send a clear message that drug trafficking has no place in Williamson County,” said District Attorney Shawn Dick. “Our office remains committed to working with law enforcement to disrupt these illegal operations and hold repeat offenders accountable, ensuring the safety of our community.”

Prosecutors on the case included Jason Jorgens and Shelly Strimple.

White’s conviction July 15 stems from an investigation initiated by an anonymous Crime Stoppers tip in November 2024, reporting illegal narcotics sales from a residence in Taylor.

The Williamson County Sheriff’s Office conducted surveillance as part of the investigation, prosecutors said.

Evidence presented during the trial revealed that investigators observed a man conducting multiple hand-to-hand transactions involving suspected narcotics from his vehicle parked in front of the residence.

A search of the vehicle uncovered 66 grams of marijuana, 12 grams of cocaine, a digital scale and tiny plastic bags.

Investigators said the man was out on felony bonds for another drug-related offense and a firearms case.

According to prosecutors, White has an extensive criminal record, including prior convictions for evading and resisting arrest, possession of controlled substances and assault.

Court records show he was convicted in 2008 of felony possession with intent to deliver cocaine.
