HUTTO — The Hutto Lady Hippos varsity volleyball team will open the 2025 season at home against Gateway College Preparatory on Tuesday, Aug. 12, at 6:30 p.m., before competing in the Westwood Tournament from Aug. 14–16.

Hutto is coming off a 21–20 overall record and finished 9–7 in district play, falling just one win short of a playoff berth behind Round Rock Stony Point. The Lady Hippos return several key contributors from last season, including sophomore outside hitter Ellie Witcher and junior Lola Polsley, who ranked second and third on the team in kills per set. However, Hutto will need to replace a significant group of veteran talent, as six seniors graduated from last year’s roster. The Lady Hippos will be tested early with a challenging schedule that includes a district opener at Cedar Park Vista Ridge on Aug. 19, followed by appearances in the Pflugerville ISD Tournament on Aug. 21 and the Forney Invitational on Aug. 29.

Before the season officially begins, Hutto will participate in a scrimmage hosted by Austin McCallum High School on Friday, Aug. 8, where it will face several competitive programs from across the area.
