THRALL — The Thrall Tigerettes varsity volleyball team opened the 2025 season with a split in a dual matchup, defeating Lago Vista, 3-2, before falling to Lorena, 3-1, on Tuesday, Aug. 12, at Thrall High School.
In their first match of the evening, the Tigerettes battled through a five-set thriller against the Vikings. Thrall took the opening set 25-18 before dropping the second 25-23, evening the match at one set apiece.
The Tigerettes fell 25-19 in the third set but responded with a 25-19 win in the fourth to force a decisive fifth. Thrall’s endurance and composure proved key in the tiebreaker, as it closed out the match with a 15-9 victory. Senior middle hitters Nevaeh Irvin and Brynn Leschber, along with junior hitter Ellie Schmidt, played pivotal roles in the win.
Thrall then faced Lorena in the second matchup but fell in four sets, 3-1, as the Leopards’ offensive attack proved too strong to overcome.
The Tigerettes bounced back quickly, however, turning in an undefeated performance on Thursday, Aug. 14, during the opening day of the Cameron Yoe Varsity Tournament. Thrall swept through pool play, defeating Bosqueville, Thorndale and Waco Vanguard College Preparatory without dropping a match.
The Tigerettes will return to their home court on Tuesday, Aug. 19, to host the Taylor Ducks at 6 p.m.
