Taylor soccer programs fall to Leopards in district openers

The Taylor Ducks girls and boys soccer programs both fell to the La Grange Leopards 1-0 in its district openers on Tuesday, Jan. 13.

Boys

The Ducks and Leopards traded defensive stops in a scoreless, offensively stagnant first half. Senior Aaron Torres broke the deadlock in the second half, scoring the game-winning goal off an assist from senior Raul Mancera.

Taylor dropped to 4-3-1 overall and 0-1 in district play. The Ducks faced Smithville on Friday and will return home to host Giddings on Tuesday, Jan. 20, at 7:15 p.m.

Girls

The Lady Ducks fell in a similarly defensive contest, but the Leopards capitalized with a firsthalf goal to take a 1-0 lead.

Taylor created late chances to equalize, but the Leopards held firm to secure the victory.

The Lady Ducks moved to 1-5 overall and 0-1 in district play. Taylor played Smithville on Friday and will be back in action on the road at Giddings on Tuesday, Jan. 20, at 7:15 p.m.
