The Taylor Ducks varsity soccer teams split their matchups against Rockdale on Tuesday, Feb. 24. The boys fell 5-2 to the Tigers, while the girls earned a 5-0 victory.
Boys
The Ducks dropped a pivotal matchup, losing to the fourth-place Tigers and falling two games out of postseason contention.
Taylor struggled to contain Rockdale’s offense, surrendering five goals — the second- most it has allowed all season.
The Ducks have four district games remaining as they look to break into the top four. After a bye Friday, Taylor returns to action against Caldwell on Tuesday, March 3.
Girls
It was a different story for the Lady Ducks, who cruised to a dominant 5-0 win over Rockdale.
Taylor scored twice in the first half before adding three more goals after the break.
Junior Kaitlyn Crane finished with two goals and an assist. Junior Analisa Arredondo, sophomore Peyton Wamble and freshman Araceli Mena each added a goal.
Junior goalkeeper Nikki Rodgers continued her dominant season in net. Rodgers has not allowed a goal in four matches and has recorded seven shutouts this season.
The Lady Ducks will host Caldwell on Tuesday, March 3, at 7:30 p.m.
