Elijah Afenkhena made quite an impact on the basketball court his freshman year.
He earned the District 24-4A Newcomer of the Year award. Afenkhena averaged 7.1 points, a team-high 7.5 rebounds and a team-high 1.2 blocks for Taylor in his freshman campaign.
Markell Fitzgerald was named first team all-district. The sophomore averaged 13.1 points per game.
Also earning all-district honors were junior Landon Coulter and senior Braylen Rivers. They both earned second team honors.
The Ducks finished 15-16 overall and 3-9 in 24-4A play. Lampasas, Salado, Gateway and Burnet were the playoff teams out of the district with all four teams losing in either the bi-district or area rounds.
