The Taylor Ducks varsity soccer programs celebrated senior night in dominant fashion as the boys picked up a muchneeded 8-0 victory and the girls defeated the Caldwell Hornets 6-0 on Tuesday, March 3.
Boys
The Ducks improved to 7-6 in district play as they look to make a final push for the postseason.
Taylor dominated the Hornets as Aaron Grimaldo scored three goals and added three assists. Josue Garcia Vasquez recorded a goal and an assist, while Yamil Velasquez, Mateo Lopez Rivera, Roman Capetillo and Jonathon Sanchez each added a goal.
Goalkeeper Omar Benitez recorded his fourth shutout of the season. The Ducks currently have three district games remaining and will need to win out while also getting help from other teams if they want to keep their postseason chances alive.
The Ducks will take on Cameron on Friday and will host Salado at 7 p.m. Tuesday, March 10.
Girls
The Lady Ducks have no doubt about their postseason chances as they clinched a playoff spot with a 6-0 victory over Caldwell.
Sam Schroeder led the team with three goals, while Analisa Arredondo added two goals and Avery Paulson scored one. Goalkeeper Nikki Rodgers once again had an impressive outing, recording her fifth consecutive shutout.
The Lady Ducks improved to 11-2 in district play.
Taylor faced Cameron on Friday and will travel to Salado for a 7:15 p.m. match Tuesday, March 10.
