CAMERON – The Thrall Tigerettes continued their dominant district run on Friday, April 3, behind a stellar performance in the circle from senior pitcher Miley Pokorny.
Pokorny tossed a complete- game one-hitter, striking out 10 batters to lead Thrall to a 6-0 victory over Cameron.
This was a two game sweep as the Tigerettes defeated Cameron 13-0 in game one.
Thrall got on the board early when freshman Riley Madsen launched a solo home run in the first inning to give the Tigerettes a 1-0 lead. The score remained unchanged over the next three innings as both teams settled in defensively.
The Tigerettes added to their lead in the fifth inning when Selena Quintanilla came around to score after advancing on an errant throw, extending the advantage to 2-0.
Thrall broke the game open in the sixth inning, plating four runs to put Cameron away. Kenzie Engelke delivered a two-RBI double, and Riley Luton followed with a tworun home run to cap the scoring and secure the 6-0 win.
Engelke and Luton led the Tigerettes offensively with two RBIs apiece.
With the victory, Thrall remained undefeated in district play at 8-0 and holds a one-game lead over Lexington in the standings.
The Tigerettes faced Lexington on Tuesday and will close out the series against the Eagles at 6 p.m. on Friday, April 10, at home.
