Granger dominates La Villa, turns to Shiner

Granger Lions junior running back Caleb Hobratsch tallied six rushing touchdowns in a 51-21 victory in the area playoff round over the La Villa Cardinals on Friday, Nov. 22.

The Lions started the game in dominant fashion, forcing a safety to take an early 2-0 lead.

Hobratsch scored his first touchdown soon after, making it 9-0 midway through the first quarter. He went on to score four more times in the first half, giving Granger a commanding 35-7 lead at halftime.

The Lions showed no mercy in the second half as Hobratsch had his longest run of the game with a 56-yard touchdown, capping off a historic six-touchdown performance. Granger has dominated their first two postseason opponents, winning by a combined 73 points as Hobratsch has tallied 10 total touchdowns in those games.

The Lions now turn their attention to the Shiner Comanches, who they will face in the regional round of the playoffs on Friday, Nov.

29. The Comanches have also impressed, defeating Woodsboro 69-6 and Brackett 54-7. The teams are evenly matched offensively, with Granger averaging 33.2 points per game and Shiner scoring 37.8 points per game.

Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. at Smithville Berry field.
