The Greater Taylor Foundation encourages people to donate to any or all of the 31 local nonprofits registered for #GivingTuesday on Dec. 3, according to a news release.

“Our goal is to raise $40,000 for local nonprofits this year,” Chair Tia Rae Stone said in the news release. “Faykus Financial has doubled its contribution to $10,000, ensuring every organization gets a little bit extra for each donation.” The event is a local, oneday, online campaign aimed at counterbalancing the consumerism of Black Friday and Cyber Monday by encouraging donors to “give where you live” during the holiday season and make a difference in the community.

“We are thrilled to host ‘Give Taylor #GivingTuesday’ and bring our community together to support these incredible organizations,” GTF President Diana Phillips said in the news release. “This event showcases the power of collective giving and the profound impact we can make when we unite for a common cause.”

Donations can be made online at givetaylor.org starting at midnight on Tuesday, Dec. 3, and throughout the day, the Greater Taylor Foundation will be sharing stories and updates about the participating agencies on their social media channels.

Last year, GTF distributed $24,400 from its Giving Tuesday campaign. The 2023 Greater Taylor Foundation goal for “Give Taylor” was $10,000, and the local nonprofit community raised $19,400. A match from Faykus Financial of $5,000 increased the total to $24,400. The Foundation reported 86 donors in the campaign with an average gift of $283.72, according to the news release.

The Greater Taylor Foundation is a community foundation advancing philanthropy in the Taylor area by connecting donors who care with causes that matter. Their mission is to improve lives in the Taylor area through responsible grantmaking, philanthropic giving, catalytic leadership and professional stewardship.
