Both the Granger Lions baseball and Lady Lions softball teams are headed into postseason play this week, each preparing for best-ofthree playoff series as they look to advance deeper into the playoffs.
On the baseball side, the Lions will face the Harper Longhorns in the bi-district round at Lehman High School. Game 1 is set for Friday, May 2, at 5 p.m., with Game 2 to follow 30 minutes after the conclusion of the opener. If necessary, Game 3 will be played Saturday, May 3, at 2 p.m.
Granger enters the series following a 7-0 loss to Bartlett, while Harper comes in with a 7-3 record in District 28-2A and is looking to bounce back from a 10-3 loss to Johnson City. The Lions will lean on senior pitcher Wyatt Rochner, who holds a 2.62 ERA, while the Longhorns are led by William Spaeth on the mound.
Meanwhile, the Lady Lions softball team advanced to the area round after defeating Goldthwaite 6-2 on Thursday, April 24.
Granger will now take on Burton in a best-ofthree series starting Thursday, May 1, at 6 p.m. Game 2 is scheduled for Friday, May 2, at 6 p.m., and Game 3, if necessary, will be played Saturday, May 3, at noon at Caldwell High School.
Burton swept Big Sandy in the previous round and posted a perfect 12-0 record in District 26-2A. The Lady Lions will be led by junior pitcher Arianna Herrera, who holds a 2.92 ERA, while Burton counters with standout pitcher Bailey Glaesmann.
