Luminaries on the Square
Luminaries on the Square returns for a second year Friday, April 14 from 6 to 9 p.m. at Heritage Square, 400 N. Main in Taylor. Everyone is invited to decorate paper bags and set them afloat with a candle inside them as a memorial for all cancer survivors and caregivers. Honor and remember those who won the fight, lost the fight, or are still fighting. The evening will include entertainment, food, and a Luminaria Ceremony. Bring a chair and cheer. 03/29/2023 10:01 AM

Taylor ISD Ok’s hiring incentives
It’s hiring season for new teachers, and Taylor Independent School District is using a variety of incentives to attract and retain qualified instructors and other employees. At the March 20 meeting, the Taylor ISD Board of Trustees unanimously approved a signing bonus of $1,000 for teachers with five years or less of experience and $1,500 for those with six or more years who accept a job before the end of May, as well as a $1,000 incentive for teachers who obtain certification for English as a Second Language. 03/25/2023 01:39 AM

Embattled Cottonwood properties ready for new opportunity

Taylor elementary schools will soon more resemble the more traditional model used in most cities in Texas. At the March 20 meeting of the Taylor Independent School District Board, trustees unanimously approved a facility assessment committee’s proposal developed about a year and a half ago to have two comprehensive elementary schools starting this fall rather than the “stacked” model currently in place. 03/22/2023 08:23 AM

City hires lobbyists for 88th legislative session
The city has hired an advocacy firm to help move bills that reflect its priorities through the 88th State Legislative session. At the most recent meeting, the Taylor City Council Members unanimously approved an $80,000 agreement until February 28, 2024 with Focused Advocacy, a firm that specializes in representing cities. 03/22/2023 08:23 AM
