Ruth Ellen Mayer Zeschke, 84, died on March 13, 2026, at her home in Thorndale.

She was born in Lansing, Michigan at St. Lawrence Hospital to George Joseph Mayer and Ruth Marion Mayer. She graduated from Bellaire High School in Houston.

Ruth met Norbert Zeschke in 1958 and married him on July 16, 1960. They raised three boys and Ruth started her passion to become a nurse which she retired from in 2015.

Ruth attended Southwest Texas State and graduated. She worked in hospitals in San Marcos, Houston, and finally, in Taylor.

Her surviving family consists of husband Norbert Zeschke; brother Carl Burnett, brother Carl and his wife Delia Burnett; nieces Ariel and Carla Burnett of Jacksonville, Florida; sons Stewart Zeschke, Troy Zeschke and Brent Zeschke; grandchildren Colton Zeschke and his family, and Morgan Zeschke; and great-grandchildren Jay Rodriguez and Evelyn Zeschke. She was preceded in death by granddaughter Kristy Zeschke, who passed away on March 26, 2001.

Visitation took place from noon to 2 p.m. Friday, March 20, 2026, at Providence Funeral Home, 807 NW Carlos G. Parker Blvd. Funeral service took place at 2 p.m. Friday, March 20, 2026, at Providence Funeral Home.
