FY 24 budget, tax rate to be introduced
The tax rate is going down, but water utility rates are going up once again. And overall, the budget for fiscal year 2024 will swell by about 28 percent to $62 million from last year’s $48 million.

Clinic earns ‘high ranking’ for pneumonia care
Baylor Scott & White Medical Center – Taylor, 305 Mallard Lane, earned a “high performing” recognition for their level of care in pneumonia cases by U.S. News & World Report. The publication issues an annual Best Hospitals report ranking the nation’s medical centers.

City proposes no new revenue tax rate
HUTTO – Hutto City Manager James Earp presented a budget based on a no-new-revenue tax rate at the Aug. 3 council meeting. The overall recommended budget for fiscal year 2024 totals $351,016,797 for all city funds, including the capital improvement projects prioritized by City Council.

Main Street Elementary design approved
Phase two of Taylor Independent School District’s 2022 Bond Program is underway for Main Street Elementary. The district’s board of trustees unanimously approved the additions design for the campus during the meeting July 24.

Officials: Get ready for road work
A $4.1 million street maintenance project is set to begin later this month to three of Taylor’s most important thoroughfares, and city officials are telling the public to get ready. At the regular meeting July 27, officials briefed city leaders on a construction plan to complete street maintenance, including seal coating, sidewalk reconstruction, street reclamation, restriping and lane configuration changes to Mallard Lane from Carlos G.

City touts credit boost
Taylor is moving on up the economic ladder. At the regular meeting July 27, city officials celebrated Standard & Poor Global’s recent credit rating upgrade from AA- to AA as they approved an ordinance for the city to issue combination tax and revenue Certificates of Obligation in the amount of $53 million over 30 years in order to build a new Municipal Complex.
