Taylor’s waste collectors will give a pile of updates Thursday. On July 28, the Taylor City Council will receive an update from Waste Connections on its sanitation program from the 2021-22 calendar.

School talks bond of $85.5M
Taylor Independent School District might ask residents for a bond of more than $85.5 million later this year. On July 25, board trustees heard that figure during presentations from the school’s Community Advisory Committee and Rory Estes, a project manager from Stantec.

The Taylor Ducks football team have started morning practices and are gearing up for the 2022 season. Coach Houston commented on how the team’s strength this season will be their receivers and defensive backs with their vulnerability being on the offensive and defensive lines.

Cemetery work begins Saturday
Headstones are on their way to getting a facelift. Taylor’s municipal government announced this week it is starting the first phase of the Headstone Leveling Project.

Future Hutto school to be named by residents
Hutto residents can name the next middle school in their independent school district. The construction for the district’s third middle school will begin this fall and is scheduled to be ready for occupancy in fall 2024.

School garden workshop next week
On Thursday, Aug. 4, the Williamson County – Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service is hosting a School Garden Workshop designed for elementary school teachers, after-school program coordinators, volunteers or camp leaders who want to teach more plant science, environmental science and/or implement a school garden project. The event is from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Water leak Thursday prompts limits
Some area residents were asked to limit water consumption Thursday evening after a local water leak. On July 21, there was a water leak at the Brazos River Authority (BRA) East Williamson County Water Treatment Plant, according to BRA.

Taylor ISD gifts supplies
Taylor Independent School District is using grant funds to provide school supplies for all students in prekindergarten through fifth grade for the 2022-23 school year. Supplies will be ready and waiting in classrooms for students on the first day of class.

Hutto prevails in $4 million lawsuit
HUTTO – The city of Hutto has prevailed in its legal dispute after the dismissal of a multi-million-dollar lawsuit. The dispute was with Legacy Hutto, LLC.
