COVID Sports 2022
Staffing has recently been interrupted in local schools due to the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic. From Monday, Jan. 17, to Thursday, Jan 20, Hutto ISD schools were closed. That same Thursday and Friday, Granger ISD was also closed. Despite these closures, athletic competitions have continued as scheduled.

GISD determined keep kids in school
Closing school was a measure of last resort, but Granger ISD students are back in class this week and plan to stay there. “We are doing everything in our power to make sure that we keep in-person education,” said Superintendent Jeni Neatherlin, “because we know that is vital to the school district and to the families and the community members of Granger.” Last week, Neatherlin spoke about the state of Granger ISD as it relates to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Scholarship recipient from Hutto sings TSTC’s praises
HUTTO – Richie Cooper, of Hutto, realized early on that he could use his hands and mind to be the technically skilled worker that a company wants. Cooper recently started his second semester at Texas State Technical College (TSTC) in East Williamson County in the Industrial Systems - Mechanical Specialization program, where he is working toward an Associate of Applied Science degree.

The 12th Annual Central Texas Beekeepers School is Saturday, March 26, at Brenham High School in Brenham. The school is open to the public for anyone interested in keeping bees or who wants to learn about bees.

Lion's chili supper this Thursday
The Taylor Lions Club will host its annual chili supper this month. The event will be held on Thursday, Jan. 27, at the Taylor SPJST Hall, located at 5025 FM 619. Serving will begin at 5 p.m. and continue to 7 p.m. The event will be drive-thru only. Tickets are available for a $10 donation. A limited number of additional tickets will be available at the door. Master Gardeners meet on Valentine’s Day
Did you know the Williamson Count Master Gardeners have a demonstration garden in which they plant a wide variety of flowers, vegetables and fruits? Master Gardeners Judy Williams, Dale Hill and Jim Williams will present a free program to discuss the results of recent vegetable trials conducted at the AgriLife Demonstration Garden. They will discuss marigolds, parsnips, potatoes and lots of tips and advice.
